RISE attended the info day of “Entrepreneurial Discovery” in the fields of Microelectronics, Innovation and Advanced Materials, which took place on the 10th of February 2015, in Patras, within the framework of the pilot application of the process and the implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS³), in the Region of Western Greece.
The owner and Director of RISE, Constantinos Kokkinoplitis, was the coordinator of the conference and the workshop on applications of Microelectronics and ICT. During the conference, several proposals and innovative ideas were introduced by the participants (representatives of the business, academic and research sectors) and were evaluated in the context of the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process.
The Entrepreneurial Discovery Process is an integral part of the Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS³) and rests upon the conviction that the business sector and private initiative have a better understanding of the right choices for a region or a country. In this philosophy, Smart Specialization does not focus on old practices, according to which only bodies that are “close” to the regional (or national) authorities (the so-called “usual suspects”) have the major role.
The Region of Western Greece is one of the 4 Regions that have been chosen for the pilot application of Entrepreneurial Discovery in a specific field.
