“Olive Challenge”, the first specialized competition for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Greek olive oil sector, was successfully organized by the Association of Friends of Olive Oil “Filaios” and drew to a close on the 11th of March 2018. Ten participant groups that ranked as the best throughout the competition gained access to a comprehensive, six-month training and networking program, which aims to qualify the winners to actualize their innovative ideas and get a significant head-start in the business scene. Coaching and mentoring sessions delivered by established entrepreneurs, seminars and workshops with the participation of renowned scientists and leading experts, as well as support in searching for the required funds and utilizing the appropriate financial instruments, are some of the assets that the Organizing Committee of the initiative “Olive Challenge” intends to provide to the beneficiaries.
Within this framework and after the publication of the Call for proposals under Measure 16 of the Rural Development Programme for Greece 2014-2020, Mr. Konstantinos Kokkinoplitis was invited to participate as a guest speaker in the second training meeting of this particular business incubation program, which is designed especially for the groups that outperformed the competition. The scope of the meeting, which took place on the 12th of July 2018, was the creation of Operational Groups of the European Innovation Partnership for “Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability” within the context of Measure 16 “Cooperation”.
Mr. Kokkinoplitis, as specialized expert of European Commission’s Structural Reform Support Service for the implementation of the Measure in our country, presented to the participants examples of past fruitful collaborations between farmers and researchers, and informed them about the institutional framework of the Measure, which offers considerable opportunities for the funding of innovative business plans and their conversion to business success.
