“Horizon Europe” is the next ambitious EU framework programme for research and innovation. It is an evolution of the “Horizon 2020” programme, for which 94 out of the total 100 bn euros of the EU's next long-term budget for research and innovation over the 2021-2027 period will be allocated.
On Wednesday March 27 2019, a "Horizon Europe" event, organized by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, took place at the “Demokritos” National Centre for Scientific Research. Mr. Konstantinos Kokkinoplitis, Director of RISE and Seven Sigma, attended the event.
The main speakers of the event were Jean-Eric Paquet, Director General of Research and Innovation of the European Commission, and Deputy Minister of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, Costas Fotakis. Mr. Paquet stressed the importance of excellence and human capital empowerment, as well as the need to further emphasize the value of research for society. In his central speech, finally, he presented “Horizon Europe”, which is the most ambitious research and innovation programme to date.
